03 - Signals - Ansuz

The Rune Ansuz is about Signals and the theme of God.

The summary opposite concerns the upright interpretation of the
rune Ansuz. The reversed interpretation is different.

The Messenger Rune is essentially the energy of receiving.

This is sometimes called the "A-rune" and may signify sacred gifts.

The spoken word is key, as is the acquistion of wisdom. There is a message for you - but this rune also signifies receiving in a more general sense. While it could indicate the imminent arrival of information, it can also refer to the receiving of gift/s. Perhaps the knowlege being made available to you is the gift. This could come in the form of an opportunity to acquire a new skill or trade.

This rune is also associated with the connection between the unconcious and the concious, and with the connection between humanity and the divine. Its wisdom includes advice to nourish yourself first in order that you may then be able to supply to others - manage wisely the energy to which you have access.

Finally, there may be a test, a testing time, or period of evaluation ahead. Release any anxiety you may feel about this and draw upon the wisdom that is given to you.

The meanings of the runes.

Note that each rune may be referred to differently in different texts. One reason is that some books prefer to use the traditional meanings as the names/titles of the runes (as we do here). Other books refer to runes using the Old English name, their Old (High) German names, or their modern English letter equivalent. There are also other sets of symbols that are associated with runes. These are more difficult to represent electronically because they do not all correspond to standard alpha-numeric characters. More about the runes as listed here.

Other terms used to refer to this rune are mentioned below:
The third rune in the series listed on the left is Signals (Ansuz).
The name of this rune in English is "feoh". It is associated with the modern English character "f". The Germanic name of this rune is "fehu".
