The only, but obvious, downside is that the elastic is bound to
wear eventually - at which point the many tiny gemstones chips will
be released. Although one wouldn't expect more sophisticated fastenings
at this low cost, the possibility is worth bearing in mind so they
are not given to any very young children who might be tempted to
put the stones chips into their mouths - unlikely, but better
safe than sorry.
